An Orange County doctor charged with poisoning her husband with Drano now faces allegations in her upcoming divorce proceedings and criminal case of trying to coach her children to lie about their father.

Yue “Emily” Yu was charged in 2022 with poisoning her husband, Jack Chen, who has filed for divorce and is seeking custody of their two children. The next court date on the divorce proceedings is April 30, while the criminal case is scheduled to return to court in late May.

Yu lost in-person visitation rights with their children late last year, after her daughter told a school therapist that she was afraid her mother would poison her as well and that Yu had coached her to say she wanted to be with her mother “24-7,” according to a recently published statement by the therapist.

The daughter “appeared distressed and looked tearful when she was explaining feeling conflicted about lying because if she didn’t, ‘she would make her mom angry.’ I asked [her] why she was so afraid to make her mom angry. [She] responded: ‘Because what if she does what she did to my dad to me?’” according to the statement.

“‘Are you afraid that your mom would kill you?’,” the therapist asked.

The daughter, whom The Times is not naming because she is an alleged victim of child abuse, replied, “Yes,” according to the affidavit.

The court documents were reported on Monday by the Daily Mail.

The filings are part of the divorce and domestic violence proceedings between Yu and Chen, both of whom are doctors in Irvine.

Chen became suspicious when he started suffering from stomach ulcers and a swollen esophagus, and noticed a “chemical taste” in his morning hot lemonade. Yu was arrested and charged with three counts of poisoning and one count of corporal injury on a spouse and released on $30,000 bail.

While Chen had already accused Yu in court documents of physically abusing their children, the conversation with the therapist was the first time either child was known to have directly accused their mother of abuse.

The 10-year-old daughter said that her mother would beat her with the leg of a chair and that her maternal grandmother would do the same, chasing the children around the house to hit them with it, according to the statement by therapist Patricia Ramsey.

Yu also coached the children, telling them to lie about why the family had Drano in the house. She instructed them to say was because there was an ant infestation and Chen had refused to get ant traps, according to the statement.

The coaching occurred during scheduled visits with monitors, but Yu took steps to instruct the children while the monitors were not paying attention, according to the therapist’s statement.

The allegations led to the judge in the case suspending Yu’s ability to meet in person with her kids.

Yu’s attorneys have argued that the allegations are made up and that the children enjoy their time with Yu.

“That the children enjoy their parenting time with their Mother, and even want additional time, is entirely at odds with Father’s current allegations of impropriety,” Yu’s attorney Danielle Struwe wrote in court papers.

A California dermatologist accused of poisoning her husband with liquid Drano has now lost custody of her two kids after she was accused of abusing them and telling them to lie in court.

A judge ruled Dr. Yue ‘Emily’ Yu could no longer have temporary physical custody of her two children after her 11-year old daughter told school officials she was afraid her mother ‘would try to kill her like she tried to kill her dad.’

The girl also told a school therapist that her mother would sometimes ‘beat’ her with the leg of a small chair, while her maternal grandmother also would allegedly chase her and her younger brother and hit them.

A judge sided with Dr. Jack Chen, Yu’s estranged husband, and approved his request to limit the kids’ interaction with their mother to virtual calls since she also would allegedly coach her kids to lie in court.

‘[The daughter] appeared distressed and looked tearful when she was explaining feeling conflicted about lying because if she didn’t, ‘she would make her mom angry,” the school therapist wrote in declaration obtained by DailyMail.com.

‘I asked [the daughter] why she was so afraid to make her mom angry. [She] responded, ‘Because what if she does what she did to my dad to me?”

Yu, 45, was indicted over claims she tried to poison her husband’s tea with liquid Drano in 2022.

Chen, a radiologist, said he noticed an odd taste in his tea that he drank daily.

He told police he had been feeling sick for about a month when he decided to set up a secret camera in the kitchen of their $2.7 million Irvine, Calif. home

At least three times in July 2022, the nanny-camera caught the dermatologist allegedly spiking Chen’s drink with the chemical solution that’s normally used to unclog drains.

Yu has pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of poisoning and one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury.

She insists she is innocent and was mixing Drano and sugar into a liquid in an attempt to combat an ant problem in the home.

Chen filed for divorce shortly after his wife was arrested in August 2022.

The dermatologist was out on $30,000 bail when she was indicted on April 5, 2023.

A judge had approved a temporary restraining order against Yu, but she had monitored visits every week.

Yu recently lost that privilege after her daughter revealed to a school therapist her mom would allegedly pressure her to lie about poisoning her father.

‘Her mom uses her phone to type lines for [the daughter] to say regarding the Drano that was used in the house,’ the school therapist wrote in a declaration.

‘[The daughter] said mom would ask her, ‘And why did we have Drano in the house in the simmer,’ and [she] was expected to say, ‘Because we had ants and dad wouldn’t buy traps.”

When asked by the school therapist if she was afraid her mom would kill her, the 11-year old girl replied, ‘Yes.’

Yu denied the allegations that she has tried to coerce her children to lie and that she abused them.

‘The abuse allegations have caused serious negative repercussions in Respondent’s life, including loss of custody of her children, being kicked out of her home, loss of health insurance, and being put on paid administrative leave at her Medical Group,’ Dworakowski wrote in an affidavit.

‘She faces the potential loss of her medical license and the ability to ever earn an income in the medical field again, not to mention the loss of her liberty.’

If found guilty of the criminal charges, Yu could spend at least eight years in state prison, prosecutors said.

‘Our homes should be where we feel the safest,’ said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer about the case.

‘Yet, a licensed medical professional capitalized on her husband’s daily rituals to torment her husband by systematically plying his tea with a Drano-like substance intending to cause him pain and suffering.’

As a condition to her $30,000 bond, a judge ordered Yu to hire a third-party chaperone while treating any patients.

She is also not allowed to open or operate a solo practice, according to a May 2023 court document obtained by the DailyMail.com.

Yu, who is a physician and surgeon licensed in California, has until April 30 to renew her medical certifications.

Yu attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis and became a board-certified dermatologist in California in 2010.

She was certified in micrographic dermatologic surgery in 2021.

While she awaits her next hearing in her criminal case, Yu filed a request for an emergency order to depose her estranged husband regarding their divorce.

In court documents, Yu said Chen is dodging his deposition, which her attorney said is needed to collect financial and other information they need to move forward with the divorce proceedings.

Dworakowski said he plans to only ask Chen about the his allegations of domestic abuse and will limit the questioning to no more than three hours.

The attorney added Yu will not be present while Chen is questioned.

‘Considering what is at stake, and the circumstances, Wife has a due process right to obtain information in discovery that may be used to confront Petitioner’s allegations,’ Dworakowski said. ‘This information will also be vital in assessing Husband’s credibility at the [domestic violence restraining order] hearing.’

Chen, however, blasted his wife’s claims and said she is using the court to harass him.

‘Not only is she seeking to take my deposition- no doubt to use in her defense of the criminal prosecution for Domestic Violence and Poisoning- she is also seeking to invade my family’s privacy by seeking their bank records even though I disclosed the existence of my separate property interests that are also protected by our premarital agreement and separate property agreement,’ Chen said in an affidavit.

Both exes will face off in court this month in their divorce proceedings, while Yu is expected to appear at an Orange County criminal court in May.

53岁的J.Chen是一名放射科医生，他透露，自己和妻子Yu在2011年认识，相恋一年后，在2012年7月4日结婚，婚后有两个小孩，他们一家四口居住在尔湾市一栋价值270万美元的房子里。

去年7月，他开始发现身体不适的情况在恶化，他怀疑结婚10年的妻子Yu下毒，因此决定在他们的厨房里安装一个 “保姆摄像头”。

Chen补充说，除了下毒外，Yu还会经常辱骂他，”她会叫我’该死的混蛋’等其它侮辱性词语，目前，她从不直接跟我对话，而是通过让孩子传话，让我做一些琐碎的家务，将我的存在降到最低。

Chen还说“如果她知道孩子们喜欢和我在一起，或者对我表达爱意，那么她就会把他们关在自己的房间里，对他们大吼大叫，直到他们向她保证不会对我表达爱意为止。”

辱骂殴打是日常

Chen透露，他们的儿子和女儿（今年分别为10 岁和 9 岁）在 2013 年和 2014 年出生后，妻子的行为发生变化。

Chen声称，妻子和岳母早在孩子们两岁的时候，就对孩子们进行口头和身体虐待，随着年龄的增长，这种情况愈演愈烈。”

法庭文件还透露，Chen指责Yu经常对孩子发表贬损性评论包括：“你的脑袋有问题”、“你有病”、“去你的”、“fXXX白痴”、和“TMD离我远点。”

Chen说，孩子们甚至无法对他表达爱意。

忍无可忍终提离婚

Chen说，妻子骂得凶猛，岳母火上加油。

在一位老师质疑他们的儿子是否患有多动症后，他们在 2021 年将孩子们从一所学校转出。当儿子开始在新学校殴打其他学生时，岳母Gu将这种不良行为解释为他“精力充沛”。

Chen申请了民事限制令，法院还命令Yu离她的儿子和女儿至少有100英里的距离。

同时，Chen还申请了离婚，并获得了孩子们的临时监护权。
